Coach Mike “Ice Water”

Basketball has been a part of Coach Mike’s life for as long as he can remember. Growing up, his older brothers would take him along to different courts, always picking him to play on their team. Game after game, he fell more in love with basketball—the energy, the competition, and the excitement of never knowing how each play would unfold.

Known by many of his athletes as “Ice Water”—a nickname that perfectly captures his cool under pressure and his ability to bring the hype every single session— he’s loud, fun-loving, and always full of energy, making every workout an experience. His motto, “You can’t miss the shots you never take,” drives his coaching style—he challenges athletes to take risks, stay confident, and push through the uncomfortable moments that lead to real growth.

What Coach Mike loves most about Star Plair’s Academy is the family atmosphere. “It’s truly a family here,” he says. “Everyone wants the best for each other and helps you grow—not just as an athlete, but as a person.” Having fallen in love with basketball at a young age, he values creating the kind of positive, supportive environment he wishes he had growing up.


Off the court, Coach Mike is all about family and fun. Whether he’s spending time with loved ones watching movies, fishing, bowling, playing pool, or cooking up something delicious, he brings the same laughter and energy that make him such a favorite among the athletes.
